Services for Students with Children

Services for Students With Children is building toward a future where all students and their families are celebrated for their unique strengths and are supported with the resources they need to thrive. We nurture community, advocate alongside students, and offer tangible resources and spaces that allow students to meet their responsibilities as students and caretakers.

The Resource Center for Students with Children (RCSC) offers integrated services that support students’ goals to be effective parents while succeeding in their academic pursuits. RCSC maintains several spacious family rooms on campus, hosts family-friendly events each term, and offers valuable resources for students raising children. In addition, they oversee more than 15 lactation spaces on campus as well as a free children’s clothing closet. The Resource Center for Students with Children provides support for pregnant and postpartum students through individual consultation, and they actively advocate for student parents to faculty, staff, and administration.

The Childcare Support Fund is offered by Services for Students with Children (SSWC) at Portland State University (PSU). The subsidy provides financial assistance to eligible students raising children to help ease the cost of childcare during PSU’s academic year. SSWC believes that every child deserves quality childcare while caregivers pursue their educational goals. By providing families assistance to help offset the cost of childcare, SSWC helps student parents meet their educational and personal needs, and improve their retention and long-term success.
