Intl 440 Capitalism, Crises and Ecology

Explores the underlying causes of many of the problems that humanity faces today, tracing its origins to the development of capitalism. First, we will study capitalism’s contradictions and crises-prone dynamics. Second, we will analyze a diversity of contemporary economic, social and environmental crises. Finally, we will explore alternatives, such as agroecology, that emphasize cooperative over competitive relations between humans and with the environment.
